Royce's Flat Stanley Visits the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

Here's Stanley at the Metropolitan Museum of Art,  also called The Met. The Met is the largest museum in the United States and it is one of the ten largest museums in the world! It is located on Fifth Avenue in New York City. There are more than 2 million works of art in the Met's permanent collection. The grand steps outside the museum are a gathering place where people sit, talk, eat, and "people watch."

This guy is really old, more than 2,000 years old actually! He is from Egypt, 306-30 B.C.
Stanley is showing us Vincent Van Gogh's self portrait. He painted it in 1887. Van Gogh is a Dutch artist. He liked to draw when he was a child. He began painting in his late twenties.

Stanley is standing in front of a painting by the famous artist Paul Cezanne. It is a painting of Madame Cezanne in a red dress. Paul met her in art school in Paris. They were married in 1886.

Stanley saw some wonderful statues!

This statue is from Rome and it is about 2,000 years old!
