It is a peninsula that is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay.

Stanley took a boat ride to Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. There used to be a big prison here but it closed down 50 years ago. Now it is a park where you can have a picnic. The oldest operating lighthouse on the west coast is on Alcatraz Island.
